Today’s SAT Question of the Day is a medium-difficulty Main Idea question from the Information and Ideas domain of Digital SAT Reading & Writing. And this passage gives us something the SAT loves: Fancy scientific jargon. Don't let it intimidate you. When I'm answering a Main Idea question, I'm not trying to become an expert on the science. I'm looking through all that noise for the simple ideas that keep repeating. As I read today's passage, I notice a basic concept coming up again and again: A scientist is the first to do something and, as a result, is getting new information. That's it. The passage may use complicated language to explain it, but underneath all of that jargon is a pretty simple repeated idea. And repeated ideas are incredibly important on SAT Main Idea questions. Once I have that simple idea in my head, I go to the answer choices. But I don't just look for something that sounds like my answer. I look for DISQUALIFIERS. What detail makes A wrong? What makes B wrong? Can I eliminate C? That's one of my favorite SAT Reading habits: Find the simple repeated idea → Get an idea of your answer → Then disqualify. Don't let complicated vocabulary convince you that the idea itself has to be complicated. Sometimes the SAT makes a simple idea sound really fancy. Your job is to strip away the noise and find what the passage keeps telling you. #SATPrep #DigitalSAT #SATReading #SATMainIdea #SATQuestionOfTheDay
