O&K Escalators at Karstadt in Cologne, Breite Straße (Main set from U - 4)

A ride on some very nice 1990s O&K escalators in the Karstadt Department Store in Cologne City Centre in Germany. This is one of 2 escalator sets here. This is the main set of escalators here, serving all floors from U to 4. There is also a back set here which only serves floors E to 3, which are also O&K escalators, but some very rare ones dating back to 1972! These are the type RTK-MBS, which is similar to the RTK-KBS but with skirt panels which extend slightly further out. The escalators from the Basement to the third floor were installed in 1992, and the 2 going up to the fourth floor were installed in 1995 when the store was extended, and they're all completely original with the SYSTEM OK-TRONIC 301 controller which most O&K escalators from this period had. These escalators ride very well, and it's hard to believe that they're now 30 years old. Sadly a few were broken, including one from 3 to 2 which was also not working when someone else filmed these in early 2026.
