Japan Vlog 9 - Exploring Keelung Taiwan 🇹🇼 | Miaokou Night Market & Diamond Princess

Welcome to another Japan Vlog from our 21-night Japan adventure! 🇯🇵 Today our Diamond Princess Cruise is still docked at Keelung Port in Taiwan, and we spend the day exploring Keelung City before returning to the ship and sailing away from Taiwan. After starting our morning with breakfast onboard the Diamond Princess, we head out to explore Keelung, a fascinating port city in northern Taiwan. We begin by exploring Keelung Port and the area around the cruise terminal, taking in the harbor views and watching the city come alive. From there, we walk through Keelung and experience the contrast between the city's old-town atmosphere and its more modern side. We explore the streets of Keelung, see the local architecture and city life, and visit the waterfront area around Maritime Plaza, also known as Guomen Square. One of the biggest highlights of our day is exploring Keelung Miaokou Night Market, one of the most famous food and shopping areas in Keelung. The market is centered around Dianji Temple and is famous for its busy streets, traditional Taiwanese food, colorful signs and lively atmosphere. We walk around Miaokou Night Market, explore the local shops, do some shopping, try the original Taiwanese bubble tea and even play some games! After spending the day exploring Keelung, we return to the Diamond Princess and watch the cruise ship sail away from Keelung Port. But our day isn't over yet! Back onboard the Diamond Princess, we enjoy the evening entertainment, watch a live show and have dinner on the cruise ship. We also get to enjoy an entertaining juggler performance as part of the evening entertainment. It was the perfect way to end our first proper day exploring Taiwan. 🇹🇼 KEELUNG, TAIWAN Keelung is a major port city in northern Taiwan and is closely connected to Taipei. For cruise passengers, Keelung is an important gateway for exploring northern Taiwan and Taipei. Our day gives you a look at both sides of Keelung — from the working port and older streets to the modern city, waterfront and famous night-market atmosphere. One of the highlights is Keelung Miaokou Night Market, located on Ren 3rd Road around Dianji Temple. The market surrounds Dianji Temple and stretches along the streets of central Keelung. This was one of our favorite parts of exploring Keelung because we could experience the local streets, shopping, games, drinks and the lively Taiwanese atmosphere all in one place. 🚢 BACK ON THE DIAMOND PRINCESS After exploring Keelung, we return to our cruise ship and watch as the Diamond Princess leaves Keelung Port. We then spend our evening enjoying the entertainment onboard, including a live show and a fun juggler performance, followed by dinner.
