EUROVELO 4 In Brittany 🚲 Rail-Trails, Beaches, Rain

Day 37. 67km (85129kms 8yrs) In the end it didn’t rain much overnight, but the shelter kept me dry from the short spell of rain around sunrise. I had big plans for the day which soon got revised down when I realised 90 hilly kilometres would be very rushed in the daylight hours available, even leaving as I did at 08:00am. Île Renote was a gorgeous place to be; totally empty in the morning as I wheeled Gibbo past giant boulders amongst improbably pink sand. By the time I reached Lannion it was raining so I sheltered at the supermarket using their surprisingly fast wifi. The eurovelo climbed and descended following a very rail-trail feeling path back down to the beach. Here I re-met Emanuel who I’d bumped into yesterday also. Hélène in Le Havre had been out mutual host although we hadn’t met at the time. Emanuel would follow the eurovelo around the coast but I elected to cut the corner - and a lot of climbing - by heading directly to Morlaix. Another lovely old town of half timber houses but with a colossal viaduct bisecting the main steet. Morlaix would’ve been lovey in better weather, I’m sure. But it was drizzly and cold so I took my photos and bolted to the home of Warm Showers host Frédéric. After the requisite shower we shared a very good local IPA (French beer?!
