I audition for John Sykes and Blue Murder.I'm Randy O, former lead singer of 80s metal band ODIN. After I left ODIN, Carmine Appice heard me sing at Gazzarri's on the Sunset Strip and brought me in for Blue Murder. Days later I was at Geffen Records with manager Vicki Hamilton and executive John Kalodner, then on a plane to Little Mountain Sound in Vancouver to sing for John Sykes with producer Bob Rock in the room.In this video I tell the true story — singing Immigrant Song for Carmine, the secret demo tape, flying with Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy's Rolex in my pocket for luck, hearing John's guitar blazing through the studio wall, and the night John brought a homeless blues guitarist into Little Mountain at 2am for a 2-hour jam.
