A day ride on the Donkey, my KLR650, out in the Great Basin in Utah's West Desert. I dropped the bike. It happens. I picked it up and kept going, through an area that burned in a 100,000-acre fire this year, and on toward the fun stuff. Then the route I always take turned out to be a construction site, completely impassable, so I had to find a way out I'd never ridden, got stuck in some sand along the way, and almost put it down a second time. Great day. Rider Over Machine is adventure motorcycle stories for everyday riders. Music from Epidemic Sound.
