Wilson Pickett and Tom Jones with "Hey Jude"

When Wilson Pickett decided to put his soulful stamp on "Hey Jude," it wasn’t just a spontaneous choice—it was a bold move encouraged by session guitarist Duane Allman, who believed the Beatles’ anthem could be transformed into a gritty, gospel-infused powerhouse. Recorded at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals in late 1968, Pickett’s version lit a fire under the song’s legacy and even helped launch Allman’s legendary career. This video features Pickett revisiting that soul-drenched reinterpretation alongside Tom Jones on the British TV show This Is Tom Jones, originally aired in 1969. Their vocal chemistry and raw stage energy breathe new life into the Beatles classic. 🎤🔥 #WilsonPickett #TomJones #HeyJude #ThisIsTomJones #DuaneAllman #MuscleShoals #SoulRockClassic
