The students along with a few peers in attendance asked me to share an example of how I dance between feels within quarter and eighth notes while grooving. This was my best attempt without playing with a band, at displaying this approach. I learned this swing/straight rock-n-roll approach from my mentor and friend Steve Jordan. Everyday is an attempt to get better at it. The idea of “mastering” is often times a pretentious pursuit. Remaining malleable and open to becoming the student daily is true mastery.
