Substance abuse, mental health struggles, youth homelessness, and senior isolation are often invisible in suburban communities. Behind Long Island's white picket fences, thousands of families struggle quietly without knowing where to turn for help.
In this episode of the Turn One Studio Podcast, Eliud Custodio sits down with Dr. Jeffrey Reynolds, President & CEO of the Family & Children’s Association (FCA). Founded in the 1880s, FCA operates over 60 programs across Nassau and Suffolk County, helping more than 35,000 Long Islanders every year.
Dr. Reynolds breaks down the changing landscape of addiction on Long Island, the post-COVID youth mental health spike, and the alarming rise in senior alcoholism. He also shares his deeply personal journey of battling prostate cancer and stage 3B colorectal cancer back-to-back while continuing to lead FCA and complete triathlons.
