This complex of one 6-floor building and two 3-floor buildings was originally intended to be used as a bus terminus and a museum showcasing urban life of the future combined with a shopping mall, but a dispute over construction costs caused it to close after just two years of operation. There are plans to renovate this place into offices; as a result it could see some activity in the future, but at the time of filming it was completely empty with all entrances locked, with the only operational elevators of the building being the two elevators outside the main entrance that leads down to the metro station concourse.
All elevators and escalators in this building had been supplied by KONE; despite being one of the world's largest elevator and escalator manufacturers, this company only had a brief presence in South Korea for eight years before completely ceasing operations in the country in 2011. Because of that, products by KONE are quite difficult to come by in South Korea. Even those existing are being modernized or replaced earlier than the usual product cycle, as it had closed all offices including the supply and maintenance division during its exit from the South Korean market, resulting in its spare parts and fixtures being no longer available.
As mentioned above, the two elevators featured in this video were the only ones that could be accessed by the public at the time of filming. At that time, the car on the right-hand side was out of service - most likely turned off due to low demand. Both elevators served the street, the retail arcade (defunct at the time of filming and thus bypassed) on basement 1 and the walkway to the metro station’s concourse on basement 2. They had KDS 300 fixtures, with buttons and indicators lighting up in red. Their street-level shafts were made of glass, allowing one to observe the MX10 hoisting machines from the outside.
