The Best 80s Skate Videos - when VHS ruled!

📼 Before YouTube or Instagram, VHS skate videos were the heartbeat of the scene. From Powell Peralta’s Bones Brigade classics to Santa Cruz, Vision, and the H-Street DIY revolution, these tapes shaped style, music, and how we skated. In 1983 only 6% of U.S. homes had a VCR; by 1987 it was 50%—perfect timing for a skate video boom. This episode looks back at the tapes we wore out and why they still matter. 🛹 What’s inside ✦ The rise of the Bones Brigade Video Show (1984) and Future Primitive → to The Search for Animal Chin and Public Domain ✦ Vision’s Skatevisions and contest scene tapes (Unreel/NSA: Del Mar, Tempe, Trashmore, etc.) ✦ Santa Cruz: Wheels of Fire, Streets on Fire (the Natas Spin!) and Speed Freaks ✦ H-Street: Shackle Me Not & Hokus Pokus (Matt Hensley, Ron Allen, Sal Barbier, Tony Magnusson, a teenage Danny Way) ✦ How VHS changed skate culture: music, graphics, fashion, spots, and crew rituals 💬 Question of the day: Which ’80s tape did you wear out, and what’s the one scene you can still run in your head, frame-by-frame? Drop it in the comments— I’m pinning a viewers’ list. Chapters 00:00 Remember these?
