Col. Macgregor: Washington Ignored Warning....Suffered Its Biggest Strategic Defeat in 100 Years

Iran has fired a new hypersonic anti-ship missile over a U.S. carrier and declared a wider exclusion zone in the Gulf. Retired U.S. Army Colonel Douglas Macgregor warns that America may now be facing its most significant strategic defeat in at least 100 years, and that there is no easy way out. In this interview, Col. Macgregor explains how the 1970s U.S.-Saudi arrangement behind the petrodollar depended on America's promise to protect the Gulf, and why he argues Iran has now shattered that promise. He traces how Washington ignored the drone revolution for four decades, how failed assumptions doomed planning from Pearl Harbor to Iran, and why his 1997 book Breaking the Phalanx predicted that shore-based missiles would threaten U.S. carriers. He also discusses why Gulf states increasingly see U.S. bases as a liability, America's munitions shortage, the case for hemispheric defense, rising instability from Yemen to Lebanon and Saudi Arabia, and his warning of an era of revolutions in the West. 💬 Is this really America's biggest strategic defeat in a century?
