I joined Scottish Police on human trafficking raid with 36 arrests made

Police arrested 36 people in a major crackdown on a suspected Vietnamese organised crime group involved in the misery of human trafficking. Around 300 officers raided 47 properties across Glasgow, Falkirk, Dundee, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Ayrshire, Lanarkshire, and Fife from 7am onwards on Wednesday. Codenamed Operation Kendrew police also closed down 14 cannabis farms operated by the Vietnamese crime gang. A number of Vietnamese people who were being forced to work on the farms were also rescued. Most of the farms which generate millions for the crime gang each year use forced labour or people who have been trafficked from their home country against their will. Other crimes the gang is under investigation for include fraud, money laundering and immigration crime, including people smuggling. The raids follow revelations in the Daily Record earlier this month about the numbers of Vietnamese children being trafficked by crime gangs into Scotland and then sexually exploited.
