Another show, another incredible performance, and another moment where we wonder how we got so lucky to have these two amazing kids. This time, Liam took the stage with Northern Virginia Performing Arts (NOVA) in their production of Dear Evan Hansen, portraying Connor Murphy, one of the most emotionally complex and heartbreaking characters in modern musical theater. For those unfamiliar with Dear Evan Hansen, the musical explores difficult subjects: teenage anxiety, depression, suicide, loneliness, grief, and the overwhelming desire to feel seen, understood, and accepted. At its heart, it's a story about human connection, the consequences of our choices, and the impact we can have on one another, often without realizing it. Connor Murphy is central to that message. A troubled teenager whose struggles are largely misunderstood, Connor's time in the story is tragically short, but his presence is felt throughout the production. Portraying him requires vulnerability, emotional maturity, and the ability to communicate feelings that even adults struggle to express. And Liam absolutely delivered. We've watched Liam grow as a performer through The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, his lead role as Horton in Seussical Jr., and most recently his starring role as Shrek in Shrek Jr. Each performance has revealed another side of his talent. But Dear Evan Hansen was different. This wasn't about being the funny character, lovable giant, or larger-than-life ogre. This was about portraying someone struggling with pain, isolation, and emotions that aren't always visible to others. Watching Liam approach that responsibility with confidence, sensitivity, and authenticity was incredibly moving. And because apparently being a competitive soccer player, talented singer, and theater kid isn't enough, he continues finding new ways to challenge himself. As one of his friends once said, "Liam is sigma...he can play all sports, does theater, and sings." I'm still not entirely sure what that means, but I think it's a compliment! What makes this production especially meaningful is that the cast was invited back for encore performances following the success of their original run. These took place September 25–27, 2026, during National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, giving the show's message even greater significance. The encores were held at the Franklin Park Arts Center in Purcellville, Virginia, a beautiful, intimate venue nestled in western Loudoun County. Its welcoming atmosphere and close connection between performers and audiences provided a fitting setting for such an emotionally powerful production. Sometimes, the themes of a show hit especially close to home. For many, the messages of Dear Evan Hansen are more than a story on stage. They're reminders that we never truly know what someone else is experiencing, that kindness matters, and that even small gestures of compassion can make an enormous difference. As parents, we couldn't be prouder. Not just of Liam's talent, voice, or ability to command a stage, but of the young man he's becoming. Someone willing to embrace challenges, step outside his comfort zone, and approach difficult subjects with thoughtfulness and empathy. A huge thank you to Northern Virginia Performing Arts, the directors, production staff, and the entire incredible cast. Productions like this require extraordinary trust, courage, and collaboration. Special thanks to Franklin Park Arts Center for hosting the encore performances and giving these talented young actors another opportunity to share this important story. And to Liam: Keep challenging yourself. Keep singing. Keep acting. Keep being the teammate, friend, and person who makes us proud every day. Whether you're scoring goals on a soccer field or bringing an audience to tears on a theater stage, your heart and dedication shine through. If there's one message worth taking away from this show, it's this: You Will Be Found. No one should feel invisible or face their struggles alone. A quick note about the recording: The sound quality isn't quite what we'd hoped for, and the audio doesn't always do justice to the incredible voices on stage. But we wanted to preserve and share this special experience. Please forgive the occasional imperfections and enjoy the talent, hard work, and heart these young performers put into this show!
