Train Ride Rainy Sydney from Town Hall to Stanmore ASMR rain Inner West 4K HD August 2025

It's pouring rain in Sydney, but I still had to get a few things done. I started my journey deep underground at Town Hall Station, right in the middle of the CBD. Town Hall Station sits directly beneath Sydney Town Hall (!) and St Andrew’s Cathedral. It’s one of the busiest and most historic stops on the network! From there, I rode through the Inner West over to Stanmore. We EVEN stopped at Macdonaldtown... a station that some people swear doesn’t even exist! Tucked between Redfern and Newtown, it’s one of Sydney’s least-used stations, hidden away behind terraces and rail yards. If you blink, you miss it! After a short ride, I arrived at Stanmore Station, with its Victorian red-brick buildings darkened with rain. It’s still the heart of the suburb, where trains have rattled through for almost 150 years. The suburb itself grew up around this thin railway hub. On the southern side of the train line is the quieter Trafalgar Street. The northern side, with the crossroads at Douglas Street and Percival Road, is the busier side. I love the Art Deco architecture and light blue of the Salisbury Hotel. It certainly wasn’t my day to wander these streets (the rain made sure of that), but the train ride made me think about how much of Sydney's history is hiding in plain sight, even if you’re just keeping dry going between two train stations!
