JO1 Talks New EP 'Animal,' Rock Version of "Infinity" and Choreography

It’s been 18 months since we last had JO1 in the studio and they’re back (in black) to celebrate what they’re calling their American debut EP ‘ANIMAL.’ We get into making the project, working with producers like Dem Jointz and the studio vibes (tequila), pushing themselves into new sounds, and the absolutely brutal ‘ANIMAL’ choreography — which may or may not have caused their knees to start begging for help. As usual the Japanese nine-piece are down to clown, so we get into the weeds. Who’s the most swole? Who can do the most push-ups? Who has a two-hour skincare routine and is committed to “growing” his face? Who owns 140 types of plants? And, crucially, what does Zach actually smell like? Plus: Cheez-Its, working with Eve and Kesha on KPOPPED, body-painting, who (and what) is the Banana Captain, impressions, special skill… and honestly a truly incredible amount of conversation about very expensive plants.
