📖 Get The Old Mexican Way, every old way written down: https://oldmexicanway.com You carried the Halloween boxes in from the garage on Sunday, and when you lifted the last one, something ran out from under the flap and across your foot. This is not a dirty house. Roaches and mice do not come for dirt, they come for a job. Roaches are not invaders, they are employees, and they come because the house is paying: water, crumbs, grease, and a warm dark commute. Nobody told you that you were running a payroll. THE ELEVEN (why it invites them, what my mother did, the $0 fix): 1️⃣ The cardboard boxes kept for later. Egg cases in the ridges, glue for food, shreds for a mouse nest. Empty boxes leave this week; decorations go into lidded bins. 2️⃣ The pet bowl left down all night. Kibble is a mouse's bank, the water bowl a roach's fountain. Pick it up after dinner; dog food in a lidded can. 3️⃣ The trash can with no lid. The richest room in the house. A lid that snaps, or a bucket with a board on top. 4️⃣ The drain with no stopper at night. The big roaches often come UP the pipe. Stopper in, every night, like locking the door. 5️⃣ The dish rack that is never dry. She can wait a month for food and not a week for water. The kitchen goes to bed dry and empty. 6️⃣ The fruit bowl on the counter. Ripe fruit at night calls roaches and mice, not only flies. Keep the bowl; put the ripe ones to bed. 7️⃣ The paper grocery bags under the sink. The warmest, darkest, dampest cabinet, beside the busiest mouse door. Keep five, not fifty, and not under the sink. 8️⃣ The dryer lint and the laundry pile. Lint is the softest nest ever made. Empty the trap every load; laundry in a lidded basket. 9️⃣ The gap behind the stove. Warmth plus grease makes it a highway. Pull the stove and fridge out twice a year and look. 🔟 The garage full to the ceiling. The house before the house. Eye-level shelf, labeled bins, anything edible in metal cans. 1️⃣1️⃣ The bird feeder by the front door. Two seeds fall for every one eaten. Move it to the far end of the yard, with a pan underneath. The honest limits: these keep them out and starve the visitors. Roaches in daylight, the small light-brown ones in the coffee maker, droppings in more than one room: that is an infestation, and a professional once, then these eleven, with no shame. Sealing holes and gaps is a repair job with its own video. Who profits: the monthly contract that returns because the invitations are still out, the sound plug-in, and the bait stations with a refill. Nobody makes a dollar from a woman who picks up the pet bowl at night. Two habits: the kitchen goes to bed dry and empty, and the Saturday walk with a flashlight. Tonight, do one: pick up the pet bowl after dinner and put the stopper in the sink. Which one is in your house right now? Tell me, and your county or state. I read every one.
