Rúnahild - Underjordisk

"Underjordisk" is from my new album Sacred Dark, released now on all major digital platforms. About Sacred Dark: The writing of Sacred Dark was initiated by a rune ceremony during a full moon eclipse and the birth of a personal bindrune that later got marked into my skin. The bindrune symbolises my intention of stitching myself back together all while shedding the parts of me that have died along the way, to breathe myself back to life and be reborn. Sacred Dark refers to the magic of the womb. It is a journey within the cave to meet both the light and the dark. However, when witnessing the darkness that is taking hold of the world, I realise that the intention of this release is far more than personal. It isn’t solely about my own experience as if I would be disconnected from everything else happening around me. It is a journey I share with many. Ultimately healing isn’t just personal, it is something we do as a part of a community. Trauma dissociates and disconnects, it is like a fragmentation from within. That is a response from our nervous system trying to keep us safe. Healing is about reconnecting, to ourselves and to the world, as we come home to ourselves and integrate our place within the web of life, remembering that we belong, that we matter and that we are all making a difference by simply existing. What we are witnessing in times of collective chaos is unhealed traumas coming to the light. It is when the shadows are being revealed and when the wounds are being opened that the medicine can be received and that the healing journey may begin. When we understand that it isn’t just about stitching ourselves back together as individuals, but as a part of a whole. In my mind this is when shadow work becomes a collective act of healing.
