I’m Riding America’s Best Bike Trail in Every State — Which Is #1?

I'm riding the best paved bike trail I can find in every U.S. state — scoring all 50 to find America's best. From famous rail-trails and urban greenways to mountain routes, river trails and hidden gems, every state gets one trail. Every trail gets scored. And every score determines its position on the Bike Across America national leaderboard. Sixteen states are complete, 34 are still to come, and the competition at the top is already incredibly close. In this video, I'll show you how the 50 Bike Trails in 50 States challenge works, how I choose and score each trail, and where the competition currently stands. Every trail is scored out of 50 across five categories: 🚲 Scenery 🚲 Ride Quality 🚲 Variety 🚲 Amenities 🚲 Memorability Each category is worth 10 points, and I use the same national standard in every state. That means a beautiful trail doesn't automatically get a 10 for scenery— it has to compete with the best I've ridden anywhere in America. You'll also see why very different trails can compete on the same leaderboard, how I break ties, some of the incredible cycling destinations I've discovered so far, and the trails currently fighting for the #1 position. 🏆 CURRENT LEADER After 16 states, Virginia's Washington & Old Dominion Trail currently leads the national leaderboard with 43/50, just one point ahead of Georgia's Silver Comet Trail.
