Lecture 7 | Derivative Calculation | Mathematics In Economics

International students often arrive in Kazakhstan at different times. While students from neighboring countries usually begin their studies in September, students from countries such as Bangladesh and Afghanistan may face longer visa procedures and other logistical challenges. Some arrive in October or November, and there have even been cases of students joining the university in December. This created significant challenges for both students and faculty members. Lecturers had to teach the same material at different times, while the university administration developed additional academic calendars for late-arriving students. This year, the beginning of the academic year for first-year international students was postponed until mid-October. To help our students start their studies better prepared, we decided to create a series of video lectures covering first-year subjects. However, studio rental, professional filming, video editing, and post-production can be costly. This is where artificial intelligence came to our aid, allowing us to reduce these expenses to a minimum while still producing accessible and engaging educational content. With the support of Zhanna Zhandarbekovna Yermekova, Dean of the Higher School of Economics and Business; Zharaskhan Sariyev, Director of Farabi International Business School; and our IT specialist, Diyar, we successfully developed a complete video lecture course titled “Mathematics in Economics.” I am pleased to serve as the lecturer for this course and to contribute to making education more accessible to international students, regardless of when they are able to arrive in Kazakhstan. This project demonstrates how artificial intelligence can help universities respond to practical challenges, reduce production costs, and create new opportunities for students and educators.
