PROENÇA-A-NOVA – History, Mystery & Some Rather Odd Things This time we’re exploring Proença-a-Nova, right here in Central Portugal — and there’s rather more going on than you might expect. 😂 We arrive on our two Honda NX500s expecting a pleasant little Portuguese town… and instead find unusual sculptures, a fountain with a story behind it, reminders of Portugal’s military past, local history and one or two things that leave us standing there saying, “What on earth is THAT?” And then there’s the wonderful old story of the people of Cortiçada trying to reach the moon… 🌙 We’ll have a look around, try to work out what everything means, get some of the history spectacularly simplified, and probably learn something along the way. No bucket lists. No dramatic expeditions. No pretending we’re intrepid explorers.
