Discover what it's like to work as a professional drone pilot, photographer and filmmaker, and how drones bring together creativity, science, technology and conservation. From aerial photography and visual storytelling to whale conservation in Iceland, this video explores the wonderful world of drones and the unexpected career opportunities that can emerge when we follow our curiosity. I'm not always able to join schools, colleges and universities for their events, but I'm passionate about inspiring young people to explore careers beyond conventional pathways, including self-employment and the opportunity to build a career around their creativity, interests and passions. Visibility matters. Women working in traditionally male-dominated industries, neurodivergent people finding careers that embrace their different ways of thinking, and young people discovering possibilities they might never have imagined for themselves. As a professional photographer, filmmaker and drone pilot, my work takes me across the UK and beyond, creating visual stories that deepen our connection with people, places and our planet. I use drones in all sorts of ways, from capturing dramatic landscapes, coastlines and the night sky to creating photography and video for tourism destinations, accommodation providers, businesses and purpose-led organisations. My work also takes me into environmental storytelling, documenting the natural world and helping organisations communicate the importance of protecting it. Alongside my commercial work, I'm President of the Board of Trustees at Whale Wise https://whalewise.org/ - a whale conservation charity working in Iceland. Drone technology offers exciting opportunities for marine research, allowing scientists to observe whale behaviour, collect valuable data and better understand these extraordinary animals. This video includes the Whale Wise showreel, illustrating how technology, visual storytelling and conservation can come together. In this video, I share a little about my career journey, what it's like working with drones, how being autistic and having ADHD shapes the way I work, and how creative and technical skills can come together in unexpected and meaningful ways. I hope it encourages young people to stay curious, challenge stereotypes, embrace what makes them different and recognise that there's no single route to building a career they love. Sometimes seeing things from a different perspective can change everything.
