From July 2026: our Colca Canyon, Peru hike experience, what it was really like., whether it was worth it, and how we suggest you do it. TL;DR Pro Tip: DO NOT do this as a day trip, and really, even a 1-nighter is not cool. It's beautiful, steep and worth the time to do it right so you can actually enjoy it. A 1-day or even 1-overnight is really too short to relax and enjoy. We saw many daytrippers arriving after sunset (no time to enjoy the pool, get some R&R) and then have to start the hike out before dawn. Just no.
