It's over. After 10 years of waiting, Paramount has OFFICIALLY dropped Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldaña, and the entire Kelvin Timeline cast from the Star Trek franchise. According to Variety's report on David Ellison's first 100 days running Paramount Skydance, the studio has "moved on" from the Abrams reboot crew. The new Star Trek movie confirmed at CinemaCon 2026 will NOT feature Pine, will NOT continue the Kelvin Timeline, and will NOT honor the actors who saved the franchise in 2009. Instead, Paramount has hired Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley (Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves) to write, direct, and produce a brand new film with an entirely new cast. This video breaks down what Pine built for the franchise ($1 billion+ box office across 3 films), why Paramount killed Star Trek 4 (salary costs tripled, Saldaña won an Oscar), how Paramount is replacing Pine with Strange New Worlds' Paul Wesley, and the brutal corporate pattern behind every Paramount Skydance decision since the merger.
