Your brain, your eyes, your DNA: who designed them? Andy Little calls design ‘the elephant in the room’, preaching in Leicester Square, London. Wherever we look, we can’t get away from design. Nobody believes a computer or a camera made itself. So who designed the human brain, the human eye, or DNA, the most complex information system we know of? Even Morse code needed Samuel Morse. And if scientists say the universe looks finely tuned, the obvious question is: who tuned it? The Bible says we are without excuse. Creation is shouting at us that there is a God. Then Andy turns to the greatest design of all. Three men died on crosses that first Easter, and the one in the middle had done nothing wrong. Why? Because it was God’s plan: Jesus died the just for the unjust, the innocent for the guilty, so that people like us can be forgiven and know God. Andy’s last example is the Bible itself, handed to King Charles at his coronation as the most valuable thing this world affords. Afterwards a woman in the crowd asks: didn’t Jesus know He would rise again, and doesn’t that make His sacrifice smaller? Andy answers that only Jesus, who never sinned, could pay for the sins of others, and that knowing what was coming made the cross harder, not easier. He knew He would cry, ‘My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?’, and He went ahead with it.
