What does flour actually DO in a muffin? Why do we need eggs? And why do we mix the wet and dry ingredients separately? 🧁🎃 Today, we’re making warm, cozy Pumpkin Muffins. Every ingredient has a job! As we bake, we’ll meet our ingredients one by one and find out how they work together. Flour gives our muffins structure, eggs help hold everything together, oil keeps them soft and tender, baking soda helps them rise, and our cozy fall spices bring plenty of flavor. We’ll also learn an important baking skill: why we mix our wet and dry ingredients separately before bringing them together. Pumpkin Oat Muffins: Ingredients • 1½ cups all-purpose flour • ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats • 1 cup granulated sugar • ½ cup packed dark brown sugar • 1 teaspoon baking soda • ½ teaspoon salt • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon • ½ teaspoon ground ginger • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves (optional) • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg • 2 large eggs • 1 (15 oz) can pumpkin puree • ½ cup neutral vegetable oil • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Bake: 375°F for about 20–22 minutes. 👩🏾‍🍳 Chef Skill: Mixing Wet & Dry Ingredients 🔬 Curious Chef Question: What job does each ingredient have in our muffins? 👃 Flavor Detective: Can you smell the cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg?
