Today, I explored the beautiful Sabtang Island, one of the most iconic destinations in Batanes.
To be honest, I don’t have much to say because I think the beauty of this island speaks for itself. The only thing I can complain about today was the scorching heat—I was completely roasted under the sun! 😅 But despite that, I was more than satisfied with today’s tour.
As I explored Sabtang, I kept asking myself, “Am I still in the Philippines, or did I somehow end up back in Europe?”
Every stop reminded me of different places I’ve visited over the years.
The traditional Ivatan stone houses and peaceful village made me think of Foroglio in Ticino, Switzerland. While the architecture and landscapes are certainly different, the quiet atmosphere and charming stone homes brought back memories of that beautiful Swiss village.
Then I noticed the short palm trees scattered around the island. Combined with the warm, humid weather, they gave me a Mediterranean vibe. 😅 Interestingly, although Sabtang enjoys a tropical climate, it also experiences a cool season during the northeast monsoon. It never snows, but the cooler months make the island even more pleasant to explore.
And then there were the dramatic sea cliffs.
Some of the rugged coastal scenery reminded me of parts of Iceland—wild, peaceful, and shaped by nature over thousands of years. Of course, Batanes has its own unique character, but certain views brought back wonderful memories of my travels.
What makes Batanes truly special isn’t just its scenery—it’s the peace you feel while you’re here.
The rolling hills, traditional villages, rugged coastlines, and the gentle pace of life create a place where you can simply slow down, breathe, and appreciate the beauty around you.
I can honestly say that Batanes is a world-class destination for anyone looking to relax, reconnect with nature, and enjoy peaceful landscapes. It’s a paradise for photographers, nature lovers, and yes… even introverts like me. 😅
If I had more time, I would definitely spend at least one night on Sabtang Island. I’d love to slow down even more, watch another sunrise or sunset, and perhaps spend some time swimming or snorkeling in its crystal-clear waters.
Thank You, Lord, once again for blessing me with another unforgettable adventure. Every destination reminds me of how beautiful and diverse Your creation is. My heart is full of gratitude for another day of exploring this incredible corner of the Philippines. ❤️
