GCOOS Spring 2025 Members' Meeting

The GCOOS virtual Spring Members’ Meeting took place from 3-6 p.m. ET / 2-5 p.m. CT on Wednesday, May 28. Early sessions (not recorded) included updates from the U.S. IOOS Program Office, with Deputy Director Krisa Arzayus and an introduction to Dr. Jeff Payne, Director of the Office for Coastal Management, who has stepped in to lead IOOS as Acting Director. IOOS Association Executive Director Kristen Yarincik provided updates about Congressional outreach and Dr. Jorge Brenner, GCOOS Executive Director, provided GCOOS updates. Program updates were recorded and included: --Dr. Stephan Howden, University of Southern Mississippi, Hefring glider missions --Dr. Brian Dzwonkowski, Dauphin Island Sea Lab, wave buoys for the National Weather Service --GCOOS Investigator Panels: Gliders & HFR; Buoys & Moorings; Satellite Remote Sensing & Numerical Modeling; Ecosystems --The meeting closed with GCOOS Board Chair Dr. Kimberly Yates providing updates on the GCOOS Board of Director Activities, 20th Anniversary updates and closing remarks.
