Dinoblade started as a ten second clip of a spinosaurus swinging a sword around in its mouth, posted by an animator who was only trying to update his demo reel. Four years later it's a real game that shifted thirty six thousand copies on its first day, and the story of how it got there is better than the game is. That's not a dig. Dinoblade is good. The animation work is superb, the combat has genuine weight to it, and the fantasy from that original clip survives the whole way into your hands, which is the hard part. It's also rough in places and I've been honest about where. So this is about Jean Nguyen, a clip he made because he couldn't be bothered animating something new, and the four years in between. Most of the background here comes from Edmond Tran's interview with Jean for This Week In Videogames, which is worth reading in full: https://thisweekinvideogames.com/feat... Dinoblade is on Steam, made by Jean Nguyen under Team Spino.
