Japan Walking Tour in Otaru, Hokkaido | A Hidden View of the Sea from a Quiet Neighborhood

A peaceful early morning walk through a quiet residential neighborhood in Otaru, Hokkaido. I was walking down the long slope from Kamomegaoka housing complex toward Takashima Elementary School when I noticed a residential street stretching out to my left. I decided to take a little detour. And then, unexpectedly, a breathtaking view appeared. From this quiet neighborhood, I could look out over Takashima, the sea, the mountains, the clouds, and the breakwater stretching into the water. It was one of those beautiful Otaru moments you might never find unless you simply take a different road. After enjoying the view, I continued walking toward the entrance of the one-way downhill road where I began this morning’s walk.
