Want to get into adventure riding without spending $10,000+ on a motorcycle and gear? In this video, I break down what you actually need to start ADV riding on a budget and how you can realistically get started for around $2,000.
I go over the basics, including finding an affordable used adventure or dual-sport motorcycle, choosing a helmet, jackets and pants, boots, gloves, bike protection, first aid gear, tools, navigation, luggage, tires, and a few other things that are nice to have once you start riding more.
I also break down what I've spent on my Gen 1 Kawasaki KLR 650, including the bike itself, tires, crash bars, handguards, maintenance parts, auxiliary lights, and other upgrades.
You don't need the newest adventure bike or thousands of dollars worth of premium gear to start exploring. Buy a motorcycle you can afford, get the important safety gear, pick up used or budget gear where it makes sense, and get out there and ride.
If you're new to ADV riding, dual-sport motorcycles, or just looking for ways to build a budget adventure bike setup, hopefully this gives you a good place to start.
