There’s a line in the song: “Closing my eyes, I make a wish upon the neon lights.” Normally, we wish upon shooting stars. But here, he makes a wish on neon lights that can’t grant him anything. Sometimes, not being able to let go feels like that. It’s not that you don’t know the answer. You’re just not ready to accept it yet. “Believing in yesterday was the greatest illusion.” The past wasn’t fake. The illusion was believing that because something was true yesterday, it would still be true tomorrow. And in 《诈骗女神》, he already knows she’s lying, but still chooses to listen. Because sometimes, what we can’t let go of isn’t the lie itself, but the small part of it we still wish were true.
