Fields of Lavender. Michael Walsh.

FIELDS OF LAVENDER Shall we go together, dear? Perhaps I’ll go alone; I wish to breathe the lavender, Where once the corn was grown; The fields are bathed in lilac, The hues of summer late, Yes, this is where my heart must be, Just past our garden gate. Let’s go and choose a flower each, A sweet forget-me-not, And tenderly I'll bind them, To better tie the knot, That binds our hearts together, With harp-like strings of muse, There’s nothing like the lavender, When with the girl you choose. Let’s wander through the posies, We’ll pluck some for your hair, It’s better if you’re with me, So, I’ll be sure of where, I choose to place the posies, Make garlands for your crown, Your hand in mine, let’s dream beneath, Our lilac eiderdown. Shall we go together, dear? Perhaps I’ll go alone; I wish to breathe the lavender, Where once the corn was grown; The fields are bathed in lilac, The hues of summer late, Yes, this is where my heart must be, Just past our garden gate.
