"The one and only time I walked into this place, I came in a sane man and came out… like this." Players assume control of Ajay Ghale, a Kyrati-American who is on a quest to spread his deceased mother's ashes in the fictional country of Kyrat (based on the real life country of Nepal). Throughout the game, players can run, leap, and crouch, and can implement weapons including shotguns, crossbows, sniper rifles, mines, throwing knives, bows, flamethrowers, and rocket launchers. The game allows players to take cover to avoid gunfights and to perform melee takedowns from a variety of positions. Unlike previous installments in the series, Far Cry 4 gives players the ability to kick objects and hide the corpses of enemies. There is a secret ending in the first mission of the game, Prologue. After Darpan is taken to be tortured by Paul "De Pleur" Harmon, Pagan Min tells Ajay to stay at the dinner table and enjoy the Crab Rangoon as he's about to have a talk with Yuma Lau on his phone. If Ajay decides to remain idle at the dinner table or not leave De Pleur's Compound for a period of around 15 minutes, it will trigger an alternative ending that will finish the game. Pagan Min will return from his call with Yuma, thanking Ajay for his patience and apologizes for how long it took due to also seeing members of the Golden Path (whom he refers to as terrorists) in the area. As Pagan is about to compliment the Crab Rangoon, he is interrupted by Darpan's agonizing screams as he's being tortured. Pagan then finishes his complementation of the Crab Rangoon, calling it fabulous. Pagan tells Ajay to come with him as they board a helicopter to where Lakshmana is. Pagan tells Ajay that a part of him is surprised that his mother told him to bring her ashes all the way to where Lakshmana is. As Ajay and Pagan get off the helicopter, as they walk towards Lakshmana's resting place, Pagan asks Ajay if his mother ever told him about his father. Ajay says that she hasn't and Pagan tells him the truth behind his father, Mohan. Mohan had sent his wife, Ishwari, to spy on Pagan. However, Ishiwari fell in love with Pagan and they had a daughter together, Lakshmana. That was when Mohan showed his true colors by driving Ishwari and Ajay away from him and even going as far to kill Lakshmana, who is Ajay's half-sister. Ajay and Pagan then arrive at the entrance of Lakshmana's resting place. Pagan remarks that Lakshmana shouldn't be alone anymore and that he's glad that everyone is finally back together. Ajay then enters Lakshmana's resting place, ready to fulfill his mother's final wish. Ajay puts Ishwari's urn next to Lakshmana's, thus fulfilling his mother's final wish of wanting her ashes to be returned to Lakshmana. As he does this, the message "I love you and I will always be with you" - Mom appears. Once Ajay puts his mother to rest next to Lakshmana, Ajay leaves the building. Ajay then sees Pagan standing next to the helicopter, who invites him to join him to "finally shoot some goddamn guns". The game then ends and rolls to credits with the song "Should I Stay or Should I Go" by The Clash playing.
