The Charleston Bohr Board lesson at Charleston Montessori School in Charleston, West Virginia. The lesson allows children to use marbles and a wooden board to concretely conceptualize the structure of an atom. A hands-on approach to introducing children to the basics of quantum mechanics and understanding of our physical world.
The lesson is based on the Bohr Model, named after Niels Bohr, a Danish physicist who contributed to the understanding of atomic structure and quantum theory for which he received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922. The Bohr model depicts the atom as a small, positively charged nucleus surrounded by electrons and protons.
The lesson was given and filmed by children at Charleston Montessori School. The teacher is 11 years old. The student is 8 years old. The videographer is 9 years old.
