SCTV "The Nutty Lab Assistant" featuring John Cougar (Mellencamp) "Jack And Diane" (Nov. 12th, 1982)

SCTV - Movie of the Week: "The Nutty Lab Assistant" (pts. 1, 2, & 3) In a spoof of Jerry Lewis' "The Nutty Professor" movie from 1963, Ed Grimley (Martin Short) stars as "Jack," who transforms into his much cooler alter-ego "John" (played by John Cougar - before he started using his real surname of Mellencamp. The new/cooler, "John" goes to a club, where he defends his true love "Miss Purdy" (Andrea Martin) from the evil and lecherous Dr. Gunzelman - in another absolutely hilarious performance by the late-great John Candy. "John" (Cougar) then sings "Jack And Dianne" and then transforms back into "Jack" (Grimley/Short), before the conclusion of the skit/movie. Originally aired on November 12th, 1982 on CBC (Canada) and NBC (USA).
