So I went around my neighbourhood looking for someone practicing rainwater harvesting. It took some searching, but I finally found a homeowner who collects rainwater in different-sized plastic containers and uses it for home gardening. What I found was a simple, practical approach—collect the rain when it comes and use it when the garden needs it. The City of Calgary recognizes rain barrels and other rainwater collection methods as a way to capture and reuse rainwater for yards and gardens.
