Dashain is one of our (Nepali) main festival which is 15 days long festival celebrated by Hindu community of Nepal. It symbolizes the victory of good over evil. The demon Mahishasura was defeated by Goddess Parvati or Durgaon this day. So, to celebrate the victory over evil, Dashain festival is celebrated with fanfare. Based on this belief, on the 10th day of Dashain, elders put Tika and jamara along with blessings to the youngsters. Happy Vijaya Dashami.
