Puerto Varas to Puerto Montt, Chile: My First Train Ride, Both Directions | 4K

The EFE passenger train from Puerto Varas to Puerto Montt and back, filmed out the window on October 23, 2026. It's 19.8 km (12.3 miles) along the track each way, with one stop in the middle at Alerce. The ride down is the first half of the video which has a lot of cuts because that side was basically a wall of tall bush. The ride back starts at 20:43 and had more landscape along with a view of the lake as we got closer to Puerto Varas. It runs about 48 minutes in 4K, and it's all shot through the glass, so you'll see the specks on the window and a pinkish cast over the sky. This was my first time on a train, in Chile or anywhere else, and I just wanted to remember the ride. Tickets were 1,200 pesos each way. I bought them separately because I took the 10:00 train down and didn't know how much time I wanted to spend in Puerto Montt. I ended up enjoying about five hours there and took the 3:05 back into Puerto Varas. It was a smooth ride with no issues, and the train wasn't full either way, maybe 50 people at most.
