Hanoi in 2 Days - How Much Can a First-Timer See?

Are two days in Hanoi enough for a first visit, and how much can you realistically see? We had three nights in Hanoi, giving us two full days to explore the city before continuing towards Ha Giang. Staying close to the Old Quarter, we covered most of our itinerary on foot, although it turned into two very long days! In this Hanoi travel vlog, we explore the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple, the French Quarter, West Lake, Tran Quoc Pagoda, the Temple of Literature and Train Street. Along the way, we also stop for bun cha and Vietnamese coffee before finishing the trip with a beer on Hanoi’s famous Ta Hien Street. This isn’t a perfect “see everything” itinerary. It’s a realistic look at what we actually managed to fit into two days, which experiences felt worth it and whether I think first-time visitors should stay longer. If you’re planning your first trip to Hanoi, I hope this helps you decide how many days you need, which places to prioritise and when it might be better to use Grab instead of walking everywhere.
