What is a pendulum slips during its motion, how far it would go in the other direction? This is an interesting problem asked in various competitive exams (including IITJAM) which involves concepts of force, tension, energy conservation, angular momentum conservation, and work done by non conservative forces. In this video I solve the problem using work done by tension as a change in total energy of the pendulum. This gives us a relationship between initial displacement, before slipping, and final angular displacement after slipping.
