Uralla to Dorrigo — Oxley Hwy, Martello Rd, Bowraville Rd and Waterfall Way. Pub with No Beer

Day 3 — QLD April Ride; Oxley, Pub with No Beer and Waterfall Way Today we ticked all the boxes! The Armidale-Kempsey Rd is closed, so we turned to plan B, to take the Oxley Hwy — not a bad plan B 😀. Our first stop was to check the water flow at Apsley Falls, and it was pretty good. The Oxley is always enjoyable though its condition has been better — still, 3 sets of stop-go lights on the mountain, 2 newer ones and the old pair had been replaced with single lanes. There’s also a reasonable amount of patchy road causing 40km/h signage and more roadworks, continuing almost to Wauchope. Back roading it to Telegraph Point, we did our only small piece of highway to South Kempsey, where we turned off onto the eastern part of Armidale-Kempsey Rd, which has nice sweepers and good surface all the way to Willawarrin. After Hickeys Creek Rd, we were provided with some interesting gravel which we enjoyed all the way to Taylor’s Arm Rd — Lunch was at the Pub with No Beer (it has beer). We continued north without touching the Pacific Hwy and enjoyed an amazing ride to Dorrigo via the favourite of many, Dorrigo Mountain on Waterfall Way. However, it was some of the lead-up to this road that also capped off a great day — Martello Rd (gravel) and Bowraville Rd (sealed) were thoroughly enjoyed. We even turned at the top of Dorrigo Mtn to do the superb Waterfall way again — wanting to go back and snap the roadside waterfall. Steven, Brian & Stuart were great company providing plenty of fun and laughs throughout the day.
