What Have I Done to Deserve This

“What Have I Done to Deserve This?” was inspired by memories from my teenage years, when my mother and I sang at the City Mission in Lincoln, Nebraska. Before supper, the men would gather in the chapel to hear the message. Some were tired and fell asleep, but I remember one older man sitting alone in a corner. That memory stayed with me and eventually inspired this story of a lonely man who discovers that Jesus still loves him and that he finally has a home waiting for him. This song is a reminder that no one is forgotten, no life is beyond God’s grace, and we never have to earn the love Jesus freely gives. Written by Dee Phillips Miller
