What’s going on, everybody? Here is another clip from my amazing conversation with the legendary Charles McPherson. We all know Charles played with Barry Harris and so many of the greats, but one of his most legendary collaborations was with the great Charles Mingus. And we’ve all heard stories about just how eccentric Mingus could be — well, Charles has some GREAT ones. Charles has shared some of these stories with me over the years that I’ve known him, but he pulled out some new ones for this I’m really excited to be able to share them with all of you. In this clip, Charles talks about his wild first night with Mingus, the moment he had to decide whether he was going to stay in the band, and Mingus’ interesting approach to marketing himself around New York City.
