Barred Owls VS Ellie & Harvey!! 😮 🦅 Kansas Bald Eagles 10-25-26

Ellie and Harvey came to the nest last night before dark, perching on adjacent branches just out of view. 🌲 Then, just after 3:00 AM, the night quickly moved into total chaos! 😮 This video compiles over an hour of intense vocal standoffs and close flybys from the local Barred Owls early this morning. 🦉 I can't be certain that one of our eagles wasn't actually struck by an owl during the dark commotion. It’s important to remember that these owls are simply doing exactly what Harvey and Ellie would do if the roles were reversed. They are sharing a territory with competing apex raptors, fiercely protecting "their" nesting grounds as the new season begins. Even though a Barred Owl is significantly smaller than a massive Bald Eagle, they are incredibly fierce, agile nocturnal hunters and clearly aren't backing down easily! 🦉💪🦅 📝 Technical Note: Farmer Derek shared that the camera will stay live for just a few days as a special treat, as it is usually offline during this time of year. This remote setup relies entirely on Starlink, solar panels, and a battery bank to keep us connected with the nest! ☀️🔋 📌 Timestamps: • 0:00 – Cam branch shakes as a Barred Owl flies directly past the nest! 🦉 • 0:10 – Eagle alarm vocals sound; Harvey drops down to defend the nest 🦅🚨 • 0:34 – Barred Owl lands on a lower branch, staring directly up at Harvey in defense mode! 👀 • 1:22 – The intense stare-down continues.
