Wind and Solar energy are the fastest-growing sectors in the Energy industry. The generating capacity of these farms sometimes rivals that of “traditional” generating stations, and this translates into significant Electrical Shock & Electrical Arc-Flash hazards. Further, the unique equipment and configuration of wind & solar farms require that traditional Hazard Analysis tools be “adapted” to address the unique hazards present on these farms. This webinar will address the challenges associated with performing Arc Flash Risk Assessments (AFRA) on Wind and Solar farms. Learning objectives: 1. Identify the unique equipment on wind & solar farms that present significant arc flash hazards 2. Explain the differences between performing AFRA on wind/solar farms as opposed to performing AFRA on other types of generating stations 3. Explain the differences between performing AFRA on Direct Current (DC) versus Alternating Current (AC) systems 4. Explain how to interpret the results provided by engineering software used to perform AFRA studies as applied to wind and solar farms Presenter: John Kolak, MS, CSP, Praxis Corporation #ElectricalSafety #ArcFlash #NFPA70E #WindEnergy #SolarEnergy
