http://www.theunpluggedwoodshop.com/ I discovered that hand plane makers have a secret weapon they can resort to when dealing with the most difficult wood grain...This secret weapon is a "blunt chisel". The blunt chisel is used like a small scraping tool and does an amazing job on end grain and difficult wood. If you have an old chisel around your shop, try making it a blunt chisel and see if it works for you! You can find more about hand tools and woodworking on the Unplugged Woodshop website.
