Abby Zwerner testifies she thought she had died after being shot by 6-year-old student

Abigal Zwerner took the stand around 11:30 a.m. Thursday in her lawsuit against the Newport News School Division nearly three years since she was shot by a 6-year-old student in her class. “The moment went by very fast," she said in describing the shooting. "The look on the students’ face is a large memory that I have. I do remember. It was like a very blank look but it wasn’t a blank look at all on his face.” When counsel asked what she remembers thinking in that moment after the shot, she said, “I thought I was dying. I thought I had died. I thought I was either on my way to heaven or in heaven, but then it all got black. And so, I then thought I wasn’t going there.
