In this latest video I’m paying tribute to an absolutely legend of a tractor that has been working in my area since 2021 but sadly this year after bumping into it’s owner who told me it has been retired from farm duties due to the fact that the farm stock has been sold off and the fields been let out to other farms. The magnificent Case-IH Maxxum 5130 Plus which I’m so pleased to have filmed on three separate occasions over the years last visiting during the 2025 season which unbeknown to me would be the last time I would see it climbing the clamp so I’m pleased I took that opportunity to video and take many photographs of her in action. It kind of saddens me to know that machines like this magnificent 5130 that once played such an major part in silage making on the farm (it wasn’t so long ago that many machines of this power even drove the forage harvester) that more recently playing supporting roles such as raking, trailer work or in this case buckraking (100hp against a self propelled, pulling (well pushing) well above its weight and doing a sterling job! These days 95% of the many farmers round my area use the services of the local contractors whereas 30 years ago it was the other way round with the majority using their own equipment and back then the neighbouring farmers rallied round to help out. It’s mostly all changed in recent years with many farmers getting the contractors in who certainly do a great job, work long hours but usually prefer to do all the duties themselves with their ever growing horsepower fleets and with little or no input at all from the farmer who just let them get on with the job! I’ve been watching and filming this lovely 5130 roaring up the pit since 2021 and believe on every visit it has been a magnificent sight to behold. Fitted with its dual wheels firstly it did the pit duties for the farms trailed MF harvester and lately in these past couple of years held its own by it kept pace with a contractors 600hp NH self propelled and a stream of trailers as easily as a tractor twice the power or a loading shovel would. It never flustered, took it all in its stride, was very reliable but most of all that roaring soundtrack from the 6-cylinder Cummins engine (which although only rated at 100hp) was music to the ears to any farm machinery enthusiast such as myself! This compilation filmed over three separate visits with three different operators (including the owner on the last occasion) not only features the 5130 but also the farms John Deere 2650 & Case 1494 again providing important roles when at this important time of the year the old saying ‘Many Hands Make Light Work’ couldn’t be more true. It’s sad day to think that I won’t be seeing the 5130 roaring up the pit again but many happy memories will stay with me that I did get the chance to see and hear this magnificent beast in action which quite honestly is the best buckraking tractor I’ve ever had the pleasure of filming in the area. Here is my lasting tribute to this wonderful tractor, a joy to watch over the years but hopefully it will be remembered well into the future on YouTube! She has been truly fantastic and a joy to see at work!
