UP 1018 Madera Turn Local | G St. Railroad Crossing, Madera CA

Mar 31, 2026 I setup here at G St for the return of the Madera 73 job after they finished working this spur line which took longer than usual this day. This crossing features signals from the SP 70s era. Based on the Safetran Mechanisms it has, this crossing likely never had Harmon Mechanisms like the two crossings West of it unless it had them for a short time but I doubt it. It features two WCH Mechanical Bells with the closer one sounding like the WRRS bells that almost sound like a teardrop just like the ones on the SSRR in Sacramento. Got more FS lights filmed. Note, at the beginning in the background, you can see the Sunset Ave crossing with its Teardrop Bell reached unfortunately. The train is headed back onto the main line where they usually would run north to Notarb Siding for the 2nd time run-around their train to head back to Fresno but this day, a manifest train had parked and tied down in the Notarb Siding therefore, they had to run all the way to the Chowchilla Siding to run-around and head back to Fresno.
